What does your location say about you?

How important is the location of your wedding reception? Over the years, I’ve seen fancy weddings at high end resorts and discovered that many of them are all the same. Recently I was amazed to watch a gymnasium get transformed into something that looked absolutely stunning. It included a homemade ceiling (drifted across the top floor rails), nostalgic records all over on the walls, and a head table that was lit up. The entire room was so unlike its original state, guests were surely in awe.

Couples often get concerned when they can’t find a venue that is a good fit. Either it wasn’t the right atmosphere or the price wasn’t right.  Truth, is, you can have an extraordinary reception anywhere, even a corn field. Sounds crazy but it’s the truth. It’s how you customize it and create something different that makes it memorable. Though a pretty looking venue is nice to have, its not always what guarantees fun and good memories.

That being said, there are still a few things that can affect overall location success. One is poor  service. Imagine being at a high end resort, everything is all pretty, there’s a gorgeous view, but the staff is slow and unfriendly?  That’s not good right? You need everything running smoothly. Another is bad food. You certainly don’t want your guests getting ill from poorly prepared food.

All in all you have to look at the big picture. What can you create that’s new, different, and about you? How will it be perceived by guests? Your physical location can be virtually anywhere. It’s what you do within the space that makes it happen.
